The Anatomy of a True Start
Statistics show that 80% of businesses that go to market don’t complete a transaction. For those that choose succession without an external transaction, 70% don’t survive the transition to the second generation. Meanwhile, in pursuit of some form of exit or transition, countless entrepreneurs forfeit precious time, runway and financial resources, most of which is irrecoverable. We believe that a false start to the journey is the leading indicator of undesirable outcomes.
We’ve created a pre-engagement process to help entrepreneurs clarify and document their known priorities, alongside the areas that are murky in terms of facts, figures, and relationships.
The purpose of this pre-engagement process is threefold:
1. Ensure you know what problem you’re seeking to solve
2. Guide you to assemble a right-fit team, both technically and relationally, and to do so intentionally and proactively
3. Establish embedded checkpoints at which everyone rallies to gut check progress
